Rory Perry's Weblog Law, technology, and the courts Results in same-sex marriage and pension bond cases Yesterday, the Court refused a petition for a writ of mandamus in SER Link, et al. v. King, Clerk, etc., by a vote of 3-2. Justices Davis and Starcher would grant. The petition sought to compel the Kanawha County Clerk to issue marriage licenses to four same-sex couples. In a separate matter, the Court voted 4-1 to grant a motion by the Governor to accelerate the appeal period in a legal dispute over the issuance of $3.9 billion in bonds. Justice Davis would refuse.
