As reported by OASIS on March 28, 2002, LegalXML has finalized its plans to join the OASIS Newtork.  As the story notes:

Under the new organizational structure, members of LegalXML will join OASIS and be eligible to contribute to all OASIS technical work. Existing OASIS members will have the option to participate in LegalXML without additional membership dues.

As an observer and occasional participant in LegalXML lists and workgroups since 1999, I'm hopeful that this alliance will increase the deliverability of open standards, so that electronic filing and open legal information exchange can be made more widely available.
