Interesting search for a definition. I'd prefer one that focuses on purpose rather than method. Google Glossary produces a semi-decent start, albeit missing the goal: a writer or producer of materials about current affairs who uses the news media — for entertainment sake? truth? propaganda? profit? see what I mean?
