The myth of radio interference, promoted and enforced by the State

David Reed: Interference is a metaphor that paints an old limitation of technology as a fact of nature. Spectrum is not a scarce resource. Thus it should not be rationed by the State. There's no scarcity of spectrum any more than there's a scarcity of the color green. We could instantly hook up to the Internet everyone who can pick up a radio signal, and they could pump through as many bits as they could ever want. We'd go from an economy of digital scarcity to an economy of digital abundance. [this item]

European stockmarket woes

Germany's stock index (Dax) has fallen below 2,200. That's a 70% drop since 2000-Mar-07, apparently a worse bear market than that of the Great Depression. Paris shares have dropped a little less than 70% since they peaked in September 2000. London shares closed at their lowest level since May 1995. [this item]
