Musical fuel, every day
The following songs slipped into and fit with our 3-day camel safari West of Jaisalmer, as we inched towards the Pakistani border and slept under the stars in sand dunes: (Ghost) Riders In The Sky by Johnny Cash, which fascinated one of our camel drivers; The Gunners Dream by Pink Floyd; Brandenburg Concerto No. 2 In F Major, BWV 1047 composed by J.S. Bach, interpreted by Wynton Marsalis; and One (live orchestral version) by U2.
And while we sip masala chai on the High Bank above the Ganges green with its Himalayan alluvial luggage, the song of the day is Ninotchka by Tuxedomoon (given to me by Thierry 18 years ago or so —merci!). Yesterday the song of the day/night was Savoir aimer by Florent Pagny. We've just reached Rishikesh in the foothills North of Haridwar, in the Northern state of Uttaranchal, West of Nepal, after more than 24 hours of transit since leaving Jodhpur (Indian travel is slow, especially by train). We plan to stay above Rishikesh for a fortnight, with a special focus on mind-body integration and balance.
What's your song of the day? do you ensure that music fuels your soul often enough?
