If the US is to retain its legacy in support of liberty, then it must not take another nation's road just because they want us to do so. We must do what we know is right in our own defense —or we shall not remain adequately defended... If the grousing grumps who for the moment run France, Germany, Canada and other cut-and-run types can't abide this anti-terrorism war's true scope, well—let them fade from our trust. Let them remember that it's our right to make judgments about fair weather friends and shift our money, defense forces, and loyalties accordingly. By ducking out on the eve of a war, these allies are fast relinquishing their right to be considered reliable. If that's what they want, fine. But let them remember that there will be a price for it.
