The media rush to hysteria
Ralph Peters offers a calm, reasoned assessment of progress in the liberation of Iraq:
After declaring victory on Friday and Saturday, a number of media outlets all but announced our defeat yesterday, treating the routine events of warfare as if they were disasters. Many people in the media have been encouraging the antiwar, pro-Saddam movement. Now that the war has started, and is proceeding amazingly swiftly and effectively, these same people are presenting (or implying) a false vision of military failure to the public. It's nonsense, but it's not surprising, unfortunately.
Nonsense.
We're winning, the Iraqis are losing, and the American people have executive seats for what may prove to be the most successful military campaign in history.
