Jinn?
According to critics, an eavesdropper, constantly striving to go behind the curtains of heaven in order to steal divine secrets. May grant wishes.

How tyrants deal with disease: murder
Michael Ledeen reports a tale told a few years ago by a Chinese official:
we are having a terrible time getting people to see doctors, even for routine physical checkups. And this is because of an event that took place back in the late 1940s, following Mao's revolution. At that time, the government promised to eradicate venereal disease in China. And it did. Everyone was forced to undergo an examination by a certified doctor. And anyone with venereal disease was executed. Ever since, most Chinese stayed far away from medical doctors.Think about this in the context of the latest announcement that Red Chin will execute anyone "knowingly" spreading SARS.
Why do we need to point out who is responsible for the destruction of Iraq?
Charles Krauthammer (Washington Post) on how Saddam Hussein turned Iraq to rubble:
By any historical standard, the amount of destruction caused by the coalition was small. Most of the damage was inflicted on the symbols, barracks, ministries and communication organs of the Baathist regime. The infrastructure -- roads, bridges, dams, sewage systems, schools, mosques and hospitals -- was barely touched. And as for the people, one of the more unnoticed facts of this war was the absence of refugees -- the Iraqi people's silent homage to their trust in the stated allied purpose of coming to liberate and not destroy. Iraq today is a social, economic, ecological and political ruin not because of allied bombing but because of Baath Party rule. Since 1979 Hussein had managed the economic miracle of reducing by 75 percent the gross domestic product of the second-richest oil patch on the planet. Some people choose to blame the US.
Calling on NPR to run away from the BBC

NPR needs to freshen up its coverage, and quit regarding the notoriously biased and antisemitic BBC as a role model.
