For the next while, I'm going to be exploring what I like to think of as "gen -1", or the thought of living and creating using the technology from one Moore cycle (~18 mos.) ago or more.
My inspiration comes from trying to understand the malaise of the current technology industry, and also the aspiration towards a world that doesn't need the latest and greatest to be happy and productive.

They're the Redundant Technology Initiative, a group of technology and art people who are utilizing what other people would call junk technology to a) give computer and Internet access to those who might not otherwise get it and b) keep things from the junkpile that can still be useful and usable.
