FROM BOING BOING BLOG:

2" GI Joe rifle confiscated at LAX. The British tabloid The Sun reports that security guards at LAX confiscated a two-inch plastic GI Joe rifle from a seven-year-old's toy action figure. I feel safer.

Security chiefs at Los Angeles airport said: “We have instructions to confiscate anything that looks like a weapon or a replica.

“If GI Joe was carrying a replica then it had to be taken from him.”

Even more amusing is the following: It would appear the FBI and other federal law enforcement agencies have lost

"...more than 400 laptop computers that, in some cases, may have contained classified national security information, according to an internal Justice Department report made public today....

"It is impossible to determine if the lost laptop computers contained national security or investigative information" because the F.B.I. and the other agencies "generally did not record the sensitivity of information stored on the machines," the report said." At least we can sleep a little sounder knowing we're safe from teams of rogue G.I. Joe operatives. I swear, sometimes it's just too easy... Gotta laugh to keep from crying.
