War Games
War Games
Senior Pentagon officials said today that two dozen long-range bombers would be sent to Guam, within easy striking range of North Korea, after President Bush said that if diplomacy failed, he might be forced to turn to military options to prevent the North from making nuclear weapons.
Pentagon officials said Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld signed the deployment order for the B-52 and B-1 bombers over the weekend, even before four North Korean MIG fighters tailed and, military officials say, came within 50 feet of an unarmed American RC-135 surveillance plane over international waters.
The timing suggests that Mr. Rumsfeld is seeking to give the President all the military options he may need should he decide to order a strike on the North's nuclear plant at Yongbyon. (U.S. Sending 2 Dozen Bombers in Easy Range of North Koreans, New York Times)

With the Memphis blues again." (Bob Dylan)

ART/COMICS: Jack Kirby
ART/COMICS: Jack Kirby
Back when I was an avid comic book reader, Jack Kirby was one of those writer/artists that stood way way out from the pack. The Fantastic Four, Doctor Doom, Captain America, Thor, The Silver Surfer, and the X-Men: Kirby added his unique touch to them all. When he left Marvel and was given Carte Blanche at DC (boo! I'm sorry, I was a Marvel Man) he created the insanely great "Fourth World" Saga: The Forever People, The New Gods, and Mister Miracle, an inter-related group of comics that was arguably his magnum opus. Boing Boing just posted these drawings for a proposed (alas never built) theme park. I am adding a few more links that the great god Google has graciously granted me. ZAP! BIF! KERPOW! Kirby Rocks!

Google: Net Hacker Tool Du Jour (Christopher Null)
Google: Net Hacker Tool Du Jour (Christopher Null)
Why bother pounding at a website in search of obscure holes when you can simply waltz in through the front door?
Hackers have recently done just that, turning to Google to help simplify the task of honing in on their targets.
"Google, properly leveraged, has more intrusion potential than any hacking tool," said hacker Adrian Lamo, who recently sounded the alarm.
