The Dell TrueMobile 1184 Access Point/Router retails for $79, and apparently runs an embedded linux (armlinux). With some linux-hacking, this would seem to make it the leading contender as a platform for a cheap free-standing wireless meshing karmabox. Am I missing something?
(I'm posting now via a linksys AP that was re-flashed with instant802_debug. It stands alone, and a DSL modem plugs into it (no computer). It has worked flawlessly for a year now. The linux-running chip in the that linksys AP is no longer made which makes this platform (and the instant802 project) not viable as a grassroots platform. But what about the the 1184?).
