Waiting out a thunderstorm
Disconnected from the world until it's all over... it's been over 17 years since I had a computer wiped out by lightning but I still unplug anything with a real brain or fragile electronic components from the phone lines & electrical lines during a storm. Fortunately, we now have laptops so it's not a complete loss.
Today's thunderstorm reading..... somewhere today I tripped over a mention of Zoomracks (in a usability newsgroup ?) and was inspired to pull out Paul Heckel's The Elements of Friendly Software Design, 2nd edition and start re-reading it.
Hmmmm... look who contributed 1st edition quotes for its' cover:
Alan Kay and Dave Winer (Our Dave ?).
How long does the Zoomracks patent have left to go ? Another couple years ?
Woops... looks like the storm has circled around and come back. It happens occasionally. I'm right between the NH White Mountains and the Lakes district.
