What I'm not watching tonight The New Adventures of Pippi Longstocking (1988) Caught a few minutes somewhere in the middle earlier today... thought I would check it out when it was on again, from the beginning. The opening musical number... and the other songs...? Turned the channel after five minutes. I remember a Pippi movie from years ago...I'm not sure if that was one of the ones with Inger Nilsson as Pippi but they were fun to watch... this newer one was atrocious... (Though the actress who played Pippi, Tami Erin, seems to have aged well... and her hair is really red.) I think I'll watch The Thomas Crown Affair again... or maybe something else? I subscribed to "Sports Illustrated" this spring... one of those 'on a whim' kinds of things... it certainly wasn't for the subscription premium.... a DVD containing this year's "Making of the SI Swimsuit Calendar"... Finally decided to watch it... to get it off of my "unwatched DVD's I've paid for" list. It's a mixed bag... other than the purpose behind the whole enterprise (beautiful women in swimsuits of the skimpy sort... to sell a sports magazine...) some of the models and most of the photographers actually appear intelligent when they are talking about what they are doing... but not enough to keep the sound turned on... especially during the inane narration from the hosts. Not exactly a high quality documentary - It's a watch once, out of the corner of one eye while doing something else kind of thing... 4:14:39 PM    Notes [] eBook experiments.. I've changed the image I used for the eBook (in Palm eBook format) of my Red Raider series. They have to be under 64K bytes and 8bit color .png images to work. I've also been experimenting with a 3D image tool... the goal is to come up with the logo used by the Council of Watchers in this series, a stylized hourglass shape. It shows up on assorted Council materials (business cards, ID's, equipment ownership tags...) Logo image version 1 Logo image version 2 Note how simple they are at this point... just the image, not very logo-like. Part of that is the 3D image tool I'm using... a free/open source thing... very non-intuitive / clumsy interface. But very quick. Did I mention the free part? I've added the first image to my eBook for the story. Sort of an end-plate. I'm also slowly adding story background info to it. What would be nice would be a way to put URL's in eBooks. I'll probably have to use a different format for that one. Or pay for a commercial tool to create the eBooks. (It would also be nice to be able to read them on my PSP... someone has written an eBook reader for it but I'm not sure what format they used... but it isn't Palm... or even Microsoft (of course) and it wasn't clear to me how you even get it to work...). 3:31:42 PM    Notes []
