250 emails this morning. Only four contained content. The rest were spam and viruses. [Scripting News]
I'm not seeing quite the same volume, but spam now represents over 50% of the total message volume I receive. I tried a product called Inbox Doctor (www.inboxdoctor.com) and it didn't work, and the company refuses to answer requests for a refund. I'll have to charge it back. I've looked at a couple of other options, but haven't seen anything. The spammers are making it increasingly hard to quickly scan for spam, as one message came in directed to me personally, with "Rick, Thanks for the effort" in the subject, and a fraudulent scheme promoting a penny stock in the text. Egads, I cannot fathom how anyone would invest in anything when misrepresentation is what the sender used from the outset!
Anyway, so far the only thing saving me is my MyMail rule which takes messages from all the domains that are businesses we work with (separate outlook rules for each, since I can't figure out a rule that lets me specify a series of domains in an "OR" rule), plus a fall-through rule that has everyone in my contact list in it, which under Outlook 2000 I need to update manually but under Outlook 2002 I hear I could set up with a single rule.
If any of the rest of you have tools you are using to stop spam, please let me know.
