Joshua Whalen: "One of the hardest and most nasty things that happened to me the first time I tried to quit was my lungs filling up with phlegm, and my sinuses getting all congested." Yup, happening here. [Scripting News]
The body has incredible healing powers. When toxins are being taken in, the body does whatever it can to mitigate the damage. Once the assault on the system stops (such as when one stops smoking), the body begins a detoxification process that can be dramatic. In addition to mucus carrying away toxins in the sinuses and lungs, we can also see "strange" changes in bowel color and texture, the skin can produce strange odors, our urine can excrete colors and odors that we've never seen before. And, we can "feel sick." I had raging fevers numerous times as my body literally burned off the crud.
The key to an extended healing journey is to accept and acknowledge and honor with rest these detoxifying processes (and learn to diffferentiate them with a good physicians help from anymore that requires intervention). And drink plenty of water. ;-)
A good quality multi-vitamin/mineral can also assist in the process. For my healing, I also required intense "green" foods such as blue green algae (in capsules, though I told everyone I was eating fresh pond scum as part of my nutritious breakfast) and 2000 grams of Vitamin C and extra Vitamin E with selenium. You can read about these in Healthnotes (see the Healthnotes left navigation link in my Radio blog at www.leaders.net/health ).
Ten years ago I was in very rough shape. But I did a number of dramatic things to change my intake of food, nutrients, and support. Ten years later, my body is in significantly better shape than it has ever been.
Good luck, Dave! We're praying for ya!
