I started this Web Log (aka 'blog) because a friend of mine had one and encouraged me to try it out. You can download the software and try it for 30 days for free. I started writing things down and flinging them off into the blogosphere and amazingly people read my musings and even responded. So that was pretty much all the encouragement I needed and I kept it up.
How this weblog is organized
You will note that there is a link called "Etc..." on left of my main page. The links there are for completely separate blogs that I have maintained for whatever reason.
Th calender on the right lets you look for posts on a particular day. The main page only holds a week's worth of posts. If you are looking for something and don't know what day it was on (and it's not on the main page) the easiest thing is to use the search box to find what you are looking for. The search box will look through the entire website.
I change the organization of this blog frequently because I like to tinker with the software and learn how it works.
What is a "weblog" exactly? Read this.
How would one go about blogging?
First, download the Radio software and wait til you have a about a half hour and get it set up and then start posting. In the beginning no one will be reading your posts so you can pretty much experiment and delete anything you don't like. I started doing it on a Saturday when I had a few hours to spare and that was pretty much all I needed to develop some basic confidence. Remember if you don't like what you posted you can edit it or delete it in less than 10 seconds.

Martha Graham on writing
"There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and be lost. The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is, nor how valuable it is, nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep yourself open and aware directly to the urges that motivate you. Keep the channel open...
"No artist is pleased [There is no] satisfaction whatever at any time. There is only queer, divine dissatisfaction, a blessed unrest that keeps us marching and makes us more alive then the others."
--Martha Graham to Agnes de Mille, Martha: The Life and Work of Martha Graham (from the introduction to George Carlin's book Braindroppings)
