Ballmer: Mod chips threaten Xbox. CEO Steve Ballmer says Microsoft may pull the Xbox from the Australian market because of a court decision legitimizing hacking chips, according to a report in an Australian newspaper. [CNET News.com]  Now this is the Microsoft I know and Love.  Some may see this as the wrong move but it's exactly right.  This is THIER product and THEY dictate the terms.  If the courts say it's legal to decompile and modify a piece of hardware that expressly prohibits it then there's a problem.  Microsoft could do the right thing here and pull it off the market.  I suggested they do this when the DOJ was threatening to destroy Windows and Microsoft.  It was the right move then and it is now.  We'll see who holds the power when the people who produce with-hold their products.  comment [] 5:12:31 PM
