Blogging Alone

Thursday, January 29, 2004

I'm stunned to learn that the 40 million dollars are gone but at the same time to really show the power of these small Internet contributions we would have to go back to the well and give another $50.00 each. The point is that with the bush way of getting money you top out or max out on your first contribution of what is it 1 or 2k way more than I could ever achieve. Dean or the other Internet candidates still have plenty of available legal money per contributor left. Whether or not they can extract that is still to be seen. But I can tell you I am far from the max limit and considering a new modest contribution to dean just to show them what this is really about. "money". That being said if Trippy ran through 40 million I might slap his hand. but not too hard because he did get the first 40million in the first place. Lets see if this new guy can match that action.

Dizzy Dean. This whole business of Howard Dean firing his campaign manager, Joe Trippi, and replacing him with Al Gore's chief of staff -- a former telecom lobbyist, no less -- is so bizarre I'm pretty much at a loss for words.... [Whiskey Bar]

I think its like fishing or gambling, partial reinforcement scheduling of random rewards. That's the same feeling you get going to a party. Some of them are really fun but because its random you can't predict which ones the next great feeling. In fishing you always keep putting yourself on the water because this might be the day or even just one more cast that you really catch the big ones.

Orkut - Why ?.

More thoughts on Orkut ....

I don't know why it was - but i felt compelled to join it, and expand my circle of friends there rapidly.  Not something i have felt with any of the other social networks, with the exception of my initial days on Ryze - when Ryze was the only online identity i had.  . . .

Did you join ?  The researcher in me would love to know what compelled you.

Are wiki's team bogging. wiki's are the shared item. wiki gets to consensus.

it has to be a way to get credit for your contribution. The refferer does that.

This is some cool tablet software for doctors. My dad has switched to tablets in his practice.

Awesome Tablet PC software.

Speaking of Tablet PC, Wild Bill's Software is knocking the socks off of tablet users who've seen their stuff. Check out their demos.

Listening to the RSS Winterfest webcast.

I'm still not sure about the atom thing but I guess at some point we may have to support it. It does seem like more work with limited resources its hard for me to enjoy spending time there instead of breaking new ground.

It must be hot for his AG to fail a loyalty test. This could be interesting being that his papa has a history with the CIA and all. I'll be tracking this one with to see which way it goes.

Josh Marshall says the case of outed CIA operative Valerie Plame has grown muy caliente: "They're guilty as sin. It's now crystal clear that from the very beginning the folks at the White House have known who did it. And pretty clearly the president didn't see anything wrong with it, or didn't care, because he didn't try to do anything about it."

Meanwhile, Glenn Reynolds says Bob Novak is "not legally entitled to keep quiet if subpoenaed. And I don't think he's ethically entitled to, either."

Says Insty of the choice between the opposing imperatives of protecting the press and safeguarding national defense: "Of course, for a lot of people the answer is, 'whichever will hurt Bush.'

Well, yeah, and for a lot of other people the answer is, "whichever will HELP Bush."

But those aren't the real questions. There is a hierarchy of values here, with Novak's rights (or privileges, per Reynolds) weighed against his obligations. Glenn (who has pooh-poohed Plameout) says Novak should give up his sources, or be compelled to do so.

Caliente.

Sounds great, I'll be excited to meet aging with Phil and others without the pain of purchasing an airline ticket.
