Hewey is back!!!!!
I sent Hewey, my HP Pavillion zu1175 laptop, back to the Mothership last Thursday for repairs. His fan was dying a very loud and painful death. HP replaced the fan. I think they also replaced my keyboard. It feels brand new! Which is quite nice.
I actually have a theory as to why the fan went kablooie - this is the 2nd time I've had the fan replaced. Radio, my weblogging tool, spins up (checks) every 10 seconds for material to be upstreamed or RSS posts to be downstreamed. As a result, Hewey's disk gets hit quite a bit which drives the fan into overload. I also think the fan design on this machine is probably a tad flawed. So those two factors conspire to cause fan burnout.
I think I'm going to turn Radio off unless I am actually blogging. That should help the situation.
