The Ski Boy and I just returned from a delightful dinner at Mic's at the Inlet" with Aron and Pat Wolf.
Fabulous conversation, really inventive and good food, and super wine: Te Kairanga 2001 Pinot Noir Reserve. Oooh - a really elegant and delicate Pinot with a robust frame. A nice complex nose, soft ruby color, and an elegant, fruity taste that holds up through the bottle (two bottles, actually). Solomon, our sommelier, stated that the New Zealanders imported their yeast from France. That would explain the wine's "Burgundian" aspect. Much closer to France in flavor and body than to Oregon.
