I found out that one of the Officer Cadets from two years back with whom
I was friends is serving on Yamayuki, the ship I've been invited
to on Saturday. It's good to know that there'll be someone I know, then!

Just as I was putting my shoes on after the practice, a huge,
digestive-biscuit-sized spider decided to show itself. Great. I suppose,
though, I should be grateful for small mercies. First of all, it wasn't
quite as big as the CD-sized beast in my apartment last year, and
secondly, it crawled out from under my shoe- not from
inside it...

Went to taiko, and had a good practice. Good in that I did lots, and
good in that I practiced enough to be able to remember a tune from two
years ago. Which is just as well, really, since it was decided that that
would be one of the tunes for next week's performance at the summer
festival. In fact, I wasn't going to play at the festival (because I've
been invited as a special guest, so I'll need to wear jacket and tie),
but, given this chance, I think I'm going to take it; I'll just have to
change quickly beforehand. This means, of course, that I need to make
the absolute most of the two practices remaining. Friday's practice is
in the gym- no air-conditioning!- so that will be something to just grin
and bear.

This Ciao.com thing is good fun. I've already had nine comments about my opinions! But opening the page is like waiting for an exam result!- will the comment be good, or bad? It's actually quite nervewracking...
By the way, one of the comments said I had an 'excellent writing style'! They must have been reading someone else's opinion...

Looking back at Hirodai
It's five years this year since I left Hiroshima University. During my year there, I kept a diary- a sort of pre-weblogging log. Anyway, I'm going to publish parts of it through the Breakfast Show, every now and again. So, without further ado, the first part: A day in Tomo-no-Ura.

It may be great to be able to get Pimms in Hiroshima, but I've hit a problem. I can't find any lemonade to mix with it! I tried Mitsuya Cider (which isn't cider at all, but that's another story), but it doesn't cut the mustard...

Web sites worthy of mention...
Ciao.com
A reviews site, where anyone can post reviews of goods or services, and rate or comment on others' reviews. A bit like weblogging, it could get addictive, I suspect. I've already posted reviews of the iBook and King Size KitKat, and commented on someone's opinions of Hiroshima! What a great concept!

It's great to have a day off in the middle of the week, when everybody else is at work. It somehow feels more like a holiday. Taking two consecutive days off, too, makes an excellent break.
