Photographs
Taking advantage of the new, 'improved' iDisk, I've redesigned my pages of photographs. The first 'new' page is of the photos I took at the JMSDF Naval Review, in November of last year.

Using both Mac OS X 10.1.5 and 10.2 on a daily basis, I've decided to make a brief list of what I like best about the new version (apart from the fact that the 'X' of OS X is in a fetching jaguar print on the box!)...
The 'wait cursor': now I'm used to the new cursor, the old one looks positively amateurish.
Spring-loaded folders are as useful as they ever were.
Being able to use more than one 'info' window at once is a real boon.
I'm sure there'll be more as I delve deeper into the new OS

Two people came from Ondo to discuss the speech I've been asked to give on September 24th. Putting aside my urge to yell at the older woman for her insistence on calling me 'sensei', we managed to decide on a title- 'Nihon to Igirisu: shimai-koku?', which translates into something like 'Japan and Great Britain: twin countries?'. It sounds catchier in the Japanese, though...! I also persuaded them that I was perfectly able to drive as far as Ondo, which in the end meant that they we able to abandon their plans to come and pick me up. For a speech beginning at 6.30, they were talking about coming to fetch me at 4 o'clock! At least if I'm driving myself I can go at a sensible time...

Went to the bank (for some reason, my bank book wouldn't work), and on the cashier's desk was the town magazine, open at my article! Given that the magazines had only been distributed seconds earlier, my article must have been the first thing the cashier turned to!
It's good to know I have one fan at least, then...

Interesting chat at lunchtime with Nagareda-kun and Hanano-kun about girls (especially those who came as volunteers to the Furusato Tanbo event), girlfriends (who's seeing whom, when, where, and- in quite a few cases- why)... and B-Rap High School on 'Gakko e ikko'. The most amusing hiru-toban ever, I think!

I took the plunge and upgraded my .Mac membership. It goes without saying that I would have preferred a free service, but nevertheless, it's good to see 81.4 MB free on my iDisk, even if I did have to pay $50 for the privilege...
