Broadcasting to an audience of three (and a goldfish)... Comment, ramblings and musings... life through the eyes of a Japanologist...

I've decided on a new 'regime'. I'm not sure what's brought this on, but nevertheless... I'm going to spend more time creating content (for the Breakfast Show, for Tinderbox, etc.) rather than mindlessly reading random internet pages (not that surfing isn't fun), I'm going to read more Japanese books (it's not as if I can't, it's just that I never get round to), and in general spend my time more productively. I give it ten days, if I'm being honest...!

In the evening, I went to kagura practice; the ko-jinja matsuri is in just over a month's time, so I thought I'd better put in an appearance. We're practicing what is effectively a kagura 'skit', where the daiba and the shishi tussle with each other to the accompaniment of taiko and fue. It's fun, but it's damn difficult to work out where the daiba and shishi will change what they're doing, and modify the taiko to fit this!

I succumbed and bought Tinderbox. I should have liked to have been able to create more notes in the trial version so as to have been able to see properly whether the software was useful or not, but, even with the severely limited number of notes, I came to the conclusion that it was worth buying.

Web sites worthy of mention...
Extreme Ironing Yes, this is a site all about ironing. But not just any ironing, oh no. Extreme ironing is ironing on the top of mountains, in the street, while waterskiing- as the site puts it, it's 'the latest danger sport that combines the thrills of an extreme outdoor activity with the satisfaction of a well pressed shirt.' Superb!

Another day, another bug with Word. Selecting a font from the font menu selects... the font above the one clicked on. Hmmm... Perhaps there's some logic here, but I fail to see it. Or could it just be that there is no logic?

The more I play with Tinderbox, the more I like it, and the more I'm coming to appreciate its power and potential. $145 is a little expensive, but even so, I think I'll be buying the software pretty soon.
