Toki Pona

Rachi mondai

Spent the day sorting everything out for the International Club events on Saturday and Sunday. It's a shame, but the plain fact is that it is simplest to do most things myself, even if this means more work.
The barbecue is shaping up well, with 30 or so people coming, but the cookery class is less popular, with only three people so far. Hmmm... I suppose we'll still go ahead, though, if only so we can say we've done an event.

Found 3140 yen on my desk, payment for my little jaunt to Hiroshima last Monday. Can't moan...!

Got a new phone today. My phone is owned by my office, so when it broke, permission had to be sought to buy a new one, which, given Japanese bureaucracy (whole armies of people just shuffling piles and piles of paper to one another), took... well, quite a while. Anyway, the permission finally gained, we went to Deodeo in Konan, and chose a new phone from amongst the huge range (or six or so models!) available. I ended up with a phone in the middle range: no huge screen like the most expensive models, but it does have a wireless handset (so I can use the phone from my washitsu...). I'll have a play with it this evening.

Happy Talk Like a Pirate Day!

Even though the night was cold, the temperature still got up to 27 degrees or so in the afternoon. Fair enough- but we had no air conditioning, and my office is always the worst for getting a pleasant breeze. Therefore, after 2 o'clock or so, all anyone did was sit around with fans, moaning how hot it was... Surely it would be more economic in the end to switch the air-conditioning on, so people would actually stop moaning and do the work they're being paid for?

In the middle of the night, I had to get another sheet out, because I was cold. Cold!- how good it is to be able to say that. All the same, though, the change from can't-sleep-without-the-air-conditioner nights to need-another-sheet nights has been so quick; I'm sure it was more gradual last year.
