The mountains inland from Hiroshima are completely white this morning...      This morning was difficult. Really difficult. To get up, that is. Not only was it cold- teeth-chatteringly cold- but it was still dark at 6.30. Until now it's been at least a little light when my alarm rings, but this morning was just like midnight. I've been racking my brains for a way of making getting up in the mornings during winter a little less unpleasant. I could set my air-conditioner to come on before I had to get up, but that would only heat my washitsu. I could set the kerosene heater in my living room to come on in the same way, but to be honest I don't like the idea of something pumping out potentially lethal fumes while I'm still asleep. And as for shaving in the bathroom, well, I'm resigned to being freezing! In any case, I suppose that if I could just make getting up less cold, I'd be fine.
