What I did today
Today, I...
- Went to work for the first time this week;
- Found that someone had 'decided' I'd be taking paid leave (as opposed to sick leave) for my two days of illness;
- Pretty quickly 'undecided' this;
- Read the little article about me in the Chugoku Shinbun from yesterday;
- Had everyone worrying about whether I was up to coming back to work so soon;
- Had everyone worrying about whether they'd catch anything from me if I coughed or sneezed;
- Went to the doctors, and despite being told that I was over the worst of the flu, got four different sorts of medicine (none of which will work, of course);
- Wrote the February issue of the Etajima International Newsletter;
- Got home to find an email from Jim Scull (an AET in the neighbouring town who left Japan three years ago), who'd seen the Breakfast Show;
- Heard 'Final Arrears', the excellent new single from the Mull Historical Society (whose new album, due out on March 3rd, I'm eagerly awaiting);
- Invited Wendy when I went to taiko.

I used to think that I worked in a madhouse; now, I'm absolutely sure.

The article about me appeared in the Chugoku Shinbun yesterday, as planned. Thankfully it's only a short article, but nevertheless I must have been stopped by about half the town now; do people really read the newspaper that carefully? Anyway, the article is below:

Japan A-Z
Agura
Agura means sitting in an cross-legged position. This is as distinct from seiza, the sitting position adopted in formal situations (where people sit with their legs tucked under them).
