 What I did today Today, I...
- Finished my update of the Breakfast Show with a new design using much more CSS code, and a new title;
- Added Notifylist to the Breakfast Show;
- Managed another 0-yen day.

Today is a shukujitsu here. It's Kenkoku-kinen no Hi, or Foundation Day. This is a National Holiday introduced in 1966 in an attempt to foster patriotism, and to mark the founding of Japan as related in the 'Nihon Shoki', Japan's oldest chronicle. Anyway, it's good to see that the general rule of bank holidays applies here in Japan as much as in Britain. It rained virtually all day...

 Web articles worthy of mention
Things don't look too good in the UK at the moment- from the look of things, it appears that there might be a terrorist attack in the (very) near future; there are even army patrols around Heathrow Airport. Not, of course, that we're safe here in Japan. I suppose there's less chance of an al-Qaeda attack here than in Britain or the U.S., but on the other hand we have North Korea on our doorstep...

This time's Pick of the Photos is of a ja-no-me-gasa- a parasol, but literally a 'snake's eye umbrella'. This photograph was taken in January 2003, in Kamagari, in the garden of one of the restored houses by the strait separating Kamagari and Shimo-Kamagari.
