 Japan A-Z
O-mikuji
Sold at temples and shrines, o-mikuji are little strips of paper with fortunes printed on them. Often, the o-mikuji are arranged by zodiac years, and dates or ages; you take one slip from the relevant slot. Fortunes are grouped into several categories, such as 'daikichi' (good luck) or 'suekichi' (not very good luck). There is also a more detailed explanation printed on the paper. People tie o-mikuji to trees after they've read them.
