What I did today
Today, I...
Rearranged my computer setup;
Sat down to update the Breakfast Show, but didn't get very far;
Watched two James Bond films and 'Waterboys'.
Writing an entry for the Breakfast Show about Furutakadaiko, the taiko group in which I play, I decided to do a Google search for 'Furutaka', the name of the island's mountain (after which, of course, Furutakadaiko is named). To my surprise I found lots of pages about warships; it appears that one of the cruisers of the Imperial Japanese Navy was named Furutaka; I can only assume that it took its name from 'our' mountain, which is so closely linked with the education and training in the Naval School here. Furutaka was heavily damaged, and subsequently sank, during the Battle of Cape Esperance (11-12 October, 1942).
