I just realized: this loss of mouse clickability happened right after I quit the Virtual PC application. I vaguely recall having VPC open the last time I lost mouse clickability, but I had attributed it to smacking my backpack against the construction scaffolding.

Hm. Mouse down events are not registering, which means I’m stuck. Current uptime is 9 days, 23:11. I can get to the terminal through command-tabbing, so here I am; I didn’t have a web browser to post this, so I used fink to apt-get lynx, ta-da. Right now I will work with command-line PostgreSQL until the ten-day mark or so, then shut down.

Can you say, “Aargh?”

Apple talks AirPort reception, heat issues in new TiPBs [MacCentral]

I think you can. I certainly can’t afford this, but it corrects almost all the hardware deficiencies that make me sigh about my TiBook (October 2001 edition + Jan DVD/CD-RW). Audio line in (but I bought something for that). Gb Ethernet, got it.

Don’t got: better AirPort reception; better heat distribution (and presumably less fan noise);

High-speed L3 cache of 1MB of Double Data Rate (DDR) SDRAM. This is what Cæsar on Ars Technica was bitching about last year, I think.

ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 graphics processor with AGP 4X support and 32MB of fast DDR video memory means 68 fps at millions of colors = 84% performance boost.

The new 15.2-inch display with 1280 x 854 pixels trumps my 1152 x 768. Color saturation and viewing angles were just complimented on yesterday, so that’s no problem.

Integrated DVI port for analog and digital video output.

Clamshell mode seems to be working now; this is probably due to the better heat dispersal.

133 MHz system bus.
