Picking apart Spolsky[base ']s argument bit by bit, while fun, misses the forest for the trees. Windows software ported to the Mac almost always fails. Mac software ported to Windows very often succeeds. On the Mac, in any given software category, the best app usually wins. On Windows, in any given software category, Microsoft usually wins.
