New Ozzy CDs latest casualties in copy protection debacle [MacCentral]

Read this description of Sony’s technology—Macworld UK’s Jonny Evans reporting:

"The way Key2Audio works is to place a fake track of data as the first track on the CD. Computer CD mechanisms are pre-programmed to read the first part of data first. The effect is to leave the Mac trapped in a fake data-loop," wrote Evans.

Eeeevil. And I think that calling this a CD is a gross misrepresentation.

I am trying to determine the title and artist of a song I heard on Buffy the Vampire Slayer some three, four weeks ago—at least I think it was Buffy. I remember waiting for the “this episode featured songs from...” but it never happened, and I don’t remember enough about the song to find it another way.

Update: Buffy Music seems to be what I am looking for.

In a fit of abstemiousness, I decided to take only the Bujold book to Toronto, but finished it on Tuesday afternoon. Luckily, I had forgotten to unpack van Vogt’s Empire of Isher from my admittedly overlarge suitcase.

Dinner at Mr. Greek’s next to the hotel: grilled octopus in a lemon and olive oil sauce, followed by a salmon filet topped by diced tomato with a sauvignon blanc.
