Nooooo! It can't be happening! You mean we're not all getting along as one happy family? Oh, the horrors!
In my neck of the woods, we haven't had many interactions with the pmCPQ (premerger Compaq) people. I'm sure that in other divisions, like PC's, handhelds and servers, the going is much tougher because it's peoples' jobs on the line. Even more importantly, it's peoples' political interests.
And the services and IT groups are really scrapping for a fight. Here's a quote from the article:
"I won't argue that there might not be some people who are disappointed or would like to have more control," Rottler said. "(The) reality is, HP is in the services business and we've got to leverage all of the assets we've got, and HP IT is one of the assets."
I wouldn't claim we're in the services business either. With IBM's purchase of PwC, they are going to have 140,000 plus employees just in their services group. I don't know how many are in HP's services group but it's probably only 20%.
