PARK AVENUE, NY, Aug. 17 - As dozens of senior citizens, homeless people and dogs perished in the unprecedented heat baking the Northeast this week, Boris Pansusz tried to keep his cool. The head ice sculptier at the Waldorf-Astoria stoically watched as his 48-inch-tall replica of the Sept. 11 catastrophe melted away at the famed establishment's outdoor Oyster Bar.
"Tant pis," said Pansusz, with a small but defiant toss of his impeccably coiffed head. "Next time I make abstract expressionist image of Niagara Falls - truly a piece de resistance!"
