Oprah kills the club
Oprah Winfrey announced Friday that she is ending her famous book club. (Although the book club site doesn't feature this announcement, it is detailed in this MSNBC story.) Though she cited the difficulty of finding books "I feel compelled to share," the opinion I've seen expressed the most is that she just got tired of doing it.
I've read only one book from the list (so far), Jonathan Franzen's The Corrections. Franzen was conflicted about the selection, which may have contributed to Oprah's decision. Here is the complete list of the club selections.
