Some tips from Tom Krawczyk on reducing disk usage when simulating:
- Save only specified nodes: "Output->Save All..." in the Analog Artist window. Options displayed are specific to the simulator in use. Example for CDS environment: spectre.outputs save string "selected".
- For transient, peridoic distortion, and peridoic steady-state analyses, the options dialog has "strobeperiod" and "strobedelay" to controll the writing of output data to disk independent of the internal timesteps. (spectre.{tranOpts|pssOpts|pdistoOpts}.{strobedelay|strobeperiod}
Tom also recomends saving the output to a local disk instead of a netowrk disk, but this is dependant on having sole and guaranteed access to that single machine and never simulating anywhere else.

The include path, model fiels, etc., that you set for simulating a cell are saved for that cell. The corresponding CDS environment variables to set these values as defaults are, with the values to set in our installation of the IBM BiCMOS8t process as an example: spectre.envOpts includePath string "/cad/cds/IBM_CDS/bicmos8t/rel/models/spectre" spectre.envOpts modelFiles string "/cad/cds/IBM_CDS/bicmos8t/rel/models/spectre/design.scs /cad/cds/IBM_CDS/bicmos8t/rel/models/spectre/process.scs" spectre.envOpts definitionFiles string "/cad/cds/IBM_CDS/bicmos8t/rel/models/spectre/definitions.scs"
These map to OCEAN commands path(), modelFIles() and definitionFile() respectively
