About Weblog technology and usage

Wednesday, March 27, 2002

Hi I'm a software engineer and since I have worked a little bit on portal softwares, it's been a while that I have been following the Weblog movement but I never found the time to create one myself.

Sharing links with friends by email or with colleagues in more elaborate intranet web pages seemed enough for my sharing needs.

But as I gained experience, in my professional life I came to usually devote 10 to 20% of my time reading technical books or articles to follow the advances in the technologies I am interested in.

And because I don't write a little everyday about what I read, when I want to share what I learnt with others, I often have no time to go back to all the sources and create a synthesis document about it for my colleagues.

Modern blogging, with tools such as Radio seem to fill that void and I hope it will help me organize all these informations day to day, helping me creating organized knowledge out of  my readings and thoughts.

When I say modern, I refer to the the fact that the information is categorized, searchable, archived, posted automatically, and the templating engine takes care of presentation.

Today I decided to start blogging.

I installed Radio in 5 minutes and after a little exploration got started with 2 entries.

It is a very satisfying experience and I hope this weblog will grow and help me to create interesting, insightful and fun content that you, future reader, will find valuable to read.
