Céline Dion kills iMac

"An Apple dealer has 'confirmed' to the Campaign for Digital Rights (CDR) that attempting to play the latest Celine Dion CD in a new iMac will result in the machine having to be sent for repair."

Mouais, elle me fout aussi des migraines la Céline, surtout avec son bébé,son René et ses bonheurs. Si en plus elle se met à bousillier les iMac... M'enfin, j'vous l'demande ma bonne dame, où va-t-on?

Down memory lanes

I started a nice email exchange with David Tebbutt, one of the developers behind the Brainstorm program. We talked about the good old times when computers had so little under the hood but were so fun to use. He had been programming since 1966 when I was at the tender age of 1. It was the age of punched cards and ferrite memories. What an exciting period! I wish I were part of it.

I started with a TRS-80 level 1. It had 4k of memory, a Z-80 processor cadenced at 1.77 Mhz, an audiotape recorder, an upper-case letter only keyboard, a Basic interpreter in ROM and a BW display with a  resolution of  128 x 48 pixels. I had so much fun with it, I made some games even a screen capture utility in assembler. Now, my kids are whining when they have less that a PIII at 400 Mhz with a 20 Gb hard disk and a 16 Mb 3D video card. I don't even see in their eyes half the joy I had at their age when I was in front of my TRS-80. Phew...
