The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and National Air Traffic Services (Nats), the owner of the Swanwick air traffic control centre, claim that the issue of whether numbers and text on the 28-inch Sony radar screens is sometimes too small to read is an ergonomic, not a safety-related issue. Still no comment on this or other air traffic incidents by Nats, whose request to raise its charges to airlines was recently turned down by the CAA.
