Kansas State University study reveals a key difference in how interface designers think - spatially - and how users think - goal-oriented, says Mark Hurst of Good Experience: Most users simply don't care about where they are in a site, and they don't want to learn. Instead, users just want to advance toward their goal. Trying to teach users how a site is organized is, at best, uninteresting to the user; at worst, distracting. If a site distracts users enough, they'll abandon it altogether. [via Good Experience]
