Last Rites For Napster. Napster -- the embattled file-trading company you love to hate -- is just about dead. In a furious day of activity, the company CEO quit and employees were given two unappealing options. By Brad King. [Wired News]
Several years ago - somewhere near the height of Napster's popularity - I was over at Dan Wooldridge's house and we were listening to "Shoe-in" by the Secret Stars. I remarked that Ida did a nice cover of the song. Dan hadn't heard it, so he opened the Napster client, entered "ida" and "shoe-in" as search parameters and immediately found four or five locations where he could download Ida's version. It didn't take more than 30 seconds.
