G.E.M. Anscombe
Somehow I missed that G.E.M. Anscombe died last year (not that this would have been mentioned by the American press). She wrote the best explication of Wittgenstein's notoriously terse Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus - An Introduction to Wittgenstein's Tractatus. I consulted it while I was writing the final paper for the Wittgenstein seminar I took my senior year at UCSC - it's got the best account of the Tractatus's distinction between the "sayable" and "unsayable" that I've read. Anscombe was also the primary English translator of Wittgenstein's writing.
