A new version of Kaffe, an open-source Java virtual machine, has been released.
Several years ago I helped with the implementation of the AWT for the BeOS port of Kaffe. After Be Inc.'s notorious "focus shift," I moved on to other concerns, but I still kept an eye on Kaffe. After a couple years without a new release, I was afraid the project had died. Glad to see a new bloom.
