Web wizards weave their magic. Apple veteran Bruce Tognazzini says the secrets of successful websites are the same as those of magicians. For me, it has been amazing that Apple has stayed in business in the Netherlands. Terrible support if you're not using a Dutch operating system. Gave up in the end.

Countdown is critical. The Chinese have launched a man into space. Thursday, I launch a new limited company, Critical Distance BV. The admin is a nightmare...but the effort will be worth it.

'Bacterial battery' developed. A bacterium found in marine sediments may be the basis for a battery powered by sugar, researchers say. [BBC News | Technology | UK Edition] Now that might be useful for developing countries! Battery shortages are a major issue and the problem with batteries is that you can never tell how full or how empty they are.
