UserLand Doesn't Do Double-Byte

It's been very disheartening for me to learn that Frontier and its ilk doesn't support two-byte character sets. Reading through archives on UserLand's site it seems that this has been a pretty widely covered issue for quite some years, but I haven't been able to find any glimmer of hope that this issue has been addressed.

There are some haxies about that helps cope with certain Japanese encodings, but native Unicode support would be preferable. This whole situation is odd considering UserLand embraces XML, and XML is supposed to be fully Unicode-based...

This probably won't deter my project of setting up a Manila ISP company. We'll see.
