Sjoerd Visscher suggests that "REST violates a lot of rules of both functional and object oriented programming", because it has "a small API". I don't buy this. I'm not convinced that REST's reliance on HTTP primitives (GET, POST, PUT) necessarily restrict flexibility of function. I'd really like to see an example of something useful that can be expressed in SOAP style much more clearly than in REST style.
