One (tough!) one to go
Gearing up for Game 6. Hoping it's the last game of this great World Series; though the way the Angels bounced back in games 2 & 3, it seems likely that this affair will go the distance. If only to get Darren some more TV time. Great quote from Jim Caple ("Back before Darren Baker replaced Garry Coleman as America's new child star: http://espn.go.com/mlb/columns/caple_jim/1450828.html

Ratto on why Bonds is the only choice for World Series MVP, assuming of course that 1) the Giants win and 2) that Alex Rodriguez does not win the award. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi? f=/chronicle/archive/2002/10/26/SP96231.DTL This proves once again, that Ratto is a Rockstar.
Okay, fine. A-Rod is the best all-around player in the game today, but how do you justify not giving Bonds the Player of the Year this year after the year he had? It's statistically unimaginable what he did this year w/ on-base % and slugging %. Almost more home runs than strikeouts? C'mon. Sure, the guy may be a jerk, but he's had 2 of the best all-time seasons. If he doesn't win the NL MVP, it's an absolute sham.
Can Ortiz get it done tonight? http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/chronicle/archive/2002/10/26/SP155234.DTL Sure the Giants don't have an ace; no one on their staff won more than 15 games this year; however, Russ has won 63 (regular season) games in the past 4 years, which has got to put him up there in terms of wins over the past 4 years. Say what you want about the lack of a dominant pitcher (though Russ & Schmidt have the tools), Sabean has put together a tremendous pitching staff.
