Sad Day to be a Giant fan: As Gwen Knapp said, "It never should have come to this."

Talked to Larry at lunch http://www.21st-amendment.com/21A.html ; he said Dusty used to come in for beers occassionally. When Chicago came up, he did seem to have a real love for the town. 10 years is a long time, but this is a drag; lots of blame to go around. Fans and the players both lose. Hopefully Sabean will grab a solid replacement; heard Rags' (http://www.baseball-reference.com/r/righeda01.shtml) name thrown out today. That has an interesting ring; he certainly understands how the constellation Barry runs (or at least knows someone who does). Time will tell .... Other names are Alou, Fregois, Wotus, Bud Black, Bob Melvin (http://www.sportingnews.com/baseball/articles/20021107/437894.html)
