Spartak Somerville - Basketball (3-6-0) Wow. How come we never played like that before?? We were somewhat short handed (Angel, John, Rog, Jay, Nan, Christine, and Andy coached) playing one of the teams that usually beats us, "The Fowl Players" who entered the game at 4-4-0...and you know what? It wasn't even close. Somehow or another, (perhaps we were all fired up from the Celtics' Friday night demolition of the Sixers?) we could do no wrong...

I mean, you KNOW something's up when I'm out there calmly hitting 20 footers...Jay, sure, but me? Dunno what it was, but everyone played perfectly. Very few turnovers, excellent rebounding, GREAT defense, and for a change, a really consistent and - dare I say it? - even a somewhat explosive offense. We jumped all over them in the first half to take a 19-11 lead at the break. Our defense was really quite sharp. They could get nothing down low and everyone jumped out on the shooters and rotated really well. We were helped along by the fact that one of their better shooters and one of their big guys didn't show up until late, but even that didn't matter much as we outscored them 22-14 in the second half to win going away, 41-25.

Very satisfying for a change.
